Do we Deal with Sexual Addiction?

We often get calls as a ministry wondering if we deal with sexual addictions and not just drug or alcohol related addictions. We as a ministry try to help people with various types of addiction including sexual addiction. We believe that all addictions are developed from deep rooted issues, therefore we treat every addiction very similar.

Covenant eyes is a great program that we promote as an accountability tool for those trying to overcome a sexual addiction. We even have this software installed on many of our computers so that we can stay accountable to one another. Provided is a story about a man named Ben from the Covenant Eyes blog.

Our God Restores - A Sweet Reunion

Our God Restores

"I will restore you to health and heal your wounds," declares the Lord.  Jer 30:17
"I will repay you for the years the locust has eaten..."  Joel 2:25

One of the best things about serving at the House of Hope is watching first-hand the restoration process that the Lord works daily in the lives of the women here.  I have seen him restore bodies, minds, spirits, relationships, dreams, and finances to the women as they've embraced His healing process in their lives.

One such example that's been fun to watch is the relationship between one of the residents here and her son.  It was slow going at first but over time, tears and much prayer, she's learning to trust God and has seen him work in the relationship.

Just a short time ago, he and his kids (her grandkids) were able to join the other women for a fun outing-- a corn maze and bonfire.  It was a sweet reunion.

Serving in the downtown East side

We're so thankful for Theresa and her friend Cheryl who came and visited with us last week. Theresa has been involved in ministering to those who need Jesus in the downtown East side for many years now. Theresa herself  has struggled and battled for years with addiction, and only through Jesus did she receive freedom. Theresa asked for some Wagner Hills Ministries bibles that were provided to us by the Canadian Bible Society so she can continue to share the gospel for those who desperately need Him. Please pray for Theresa and all those who are working in the downtown East side.

Teaching at Wagner Hills Farm

Biblical classes are held on a daily basis at Wagner Hills Farm men's campus. Every week the men will participate in multiple classes to help guide, strengthen and equip the residents to become men of God. The Word of God is the main ingredient of change in a man's life. When we read and study the Word of God, it transforms us from the inside out.

If you're interested in helping support a resident financially through our resident sponsorship program, "$44 For Freedom", you can donate now and help bring change to a man's life.

Campbell Valley House of Hope - Women's Ministry

Staff & Residents of Campbell Valley "House of Hope"

This past week the women from Campbell Valley "House of Hope" got together for their annual photo session in this beautiful October weather. House of Hope is an amazing ministry that offers a place of refuge and rest for women trapped in addiction and other life hindering circumstances. Recently, the leadership and residents welcomed the opening of the new "Stevenson House". This brand new facility is 11,000 sq. feet equipped with kitchen, dining, board room, study rooms, staff housing and much more. On an average day, the women can expect fellowship, prayer, devotions, bible study, worship, counseling, work program and meals together. It is a wonderful place to grow spiritually, emotionally and physically.

If you  or someone you know that could use some help. Please go to the contact section of the website and call the House of Hope today. If you feel led to make a donation or sponsor a resident at the House of Hope, we encourage you to do so.

Teen Challenge & Wagner Hills Worship

This morning Teen Challenge came to Wagner Hills Farm and joined with us in worship. It was a powerful time of unity together as ministries. Teen Challenge is an amazing ministry that also deals with helping people who are trapped in addiction. Both programs are very similar, the most important similarity is that both ministries focus on Christ as the true healer, and that He is the only thing that will bring true everlasting change to our lives.

Friday Worship at Wagner Hills Ministries

On every Friday morning from 10:00-11:00 am, Wagner Hills gets together for a time of worship. This past year, we as a ministry felt it was important to welcome friends and guests to come and join us. On a typical Friday morning with residents, staff and friends of the ministry, we can expect between 40-50 people coming together in corporate worship. It is not only a time of encouragement to see men and women of the program worship God, it is a time where God will minister to you as you sing praises to Him. If you would like to come and worship with us and have a quick tour of our facility afterwards, please contact the main office at 604.856.9432 to let us know you're coming. We hope to see you soon.

5 years ago this very day

Today is August 8th, 2013. 5 years ago to this very day I entered the intake house at Wagner Hills Farm. That day was one of the hardest days I can ever remember. My brother dropped me off at the farm around 9 am. We both had tears in our eyes and little words were said. This was one of the most humbling days of my life. I was a working addict, I had a good job, tons of friends, a nice car and even a good place I called home. That didn't matter though. Like most addicts I was a master manipulator and in serious denial of my issues. I burned all my bridges and relationships. I was a complete mess and needed help. I was an out of control addict. I lost it all.

Wagner Hills Ministries changed my life. This was not an easy program, but I did needed it. I stuck it out and completed the program. I stayed for a total of 13 months. In this time the Lord healed me from my addiction and underlying issues that I carried for so long. I left the farm on August 29, 2009 at the age of 30 years old. From here I went on to bible college where I received a diploma in professional counselling. From there I heard God calling me to the next step and went to Trinity Western University where I graduated with my BA of Arts with a major in Leadership in 2011. I did this at the age of 32 years old. I didn't care anymore, God had a new plan for my life and I was ALL in. I no longer worried what people thought about me, it was about what God thought about me that really mattered. Since then I have been married to a beautiful Christian woman and now work for both Wagner Hills Ministries and Christian Life Assembly Church in Langley where I minister to people in addiction. He gave me a new life, an awesome and amazing life!

God deserves all the glory in my life. Without him I would be dead, or I would still laying in my bed at night contemplating suicide. I want to encourage all of you who read this to take the bold step of change in your life. You may not even have a relationship with God right now, it doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is that you know in your spirit that HE is calling you to change. Change is scary, but it is worth it. If HE can change me, he can change you!

God bless

Blueberries!

Blueberry season is here and there are plenty of berries left! On Saturday July 13th, Wagner Hills Farm opened up it's blueberry fields for business. Wagner Hills Farm has a few acres of beautiful fresh blueberries in case you didn't know. In early July the men went out and picked the first batch of the year; they were able to bring in over a 100 pounds of delicious ripe berries in that one evening. Last year was our best year yet and many people took advantage by coming out and collecting significant amounts of berries. One great thing about Wagner Hills Farm blueberries is that they are 100% organic with no pesticides or fertilizers used. Every year as a part of the work program, men trim and tend the fields to make sure that when berry season comes, the berries are big, delicious, and ready for picking. Wagner Hills Ministries would like to invite you and your family (or yourself) to join us this year in harvesting the berries. If you would like to know more details, or would like to be added to our waiting list for pre-picked berries ($1.75 per pound) please call the main office at 604.856.9432U-Pick Berries are $1.00 per pound (please pay at the little blue house on the bottom of the driveway). Enjoy and God bless.

Charity Golf Tournament a Success!

Wagner Hills Ministries 7th Annual "Swing into Freedom" Charity Golf Tournament at Redwoods Golf Course, June 4th, 2013.

This years tournament was our most successful tournament to date. All thanks to God. Our goal this year was not just to make this a fun and entertaining tournament, it was to aim higher than we ever have before. The weather was terrific, the atmosphere was good, and the staff at Redwoods golf course were exceptional as always. We cannot thank you all enough who participated, sponsored, played, prayed, and contributed in some fashion. We boldly requested that God would touch those who came this year to give financially; God answered our prayers. This year we raised approximately $38,000 (net income).

We would like to thank all our sponsors who made this possible. We had the privilege of Apex Communications coming on board this year as our title sponsor and our grateful of our opportunity to partner with them. We would also like to take the opportunity to acknowledge other key sponsors such as Ledcor, Mainland Sand & Gravel, and Solid Rock Steel for their ongoing support of this ministry.

We're excited to announce already that next years tournament will be held on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014 at Redwoods Golf Course. To reserve your spot or to find out more information, please visit:

No one wants to come to Wagner Hills

Seven years ago I came to Wagner Hills and enrolled in the discipleship program because I believed Jesus told me to do it. I did not want to do it, but eventually by God's grace I found the strength to get over myself and obey him. I just wanted to post something here quickly about the odd way that most of us at Wagner Hills have come to serve him and to end up blessed with the blessings of heaven, all in spite of ourselves.

Lately in the classes I teach at Wagner Hills we have discussed Genesis 11 and the builders of the tower of Babel. We talked about how all of us had our own "towers" that we were trying to build before coming to Wagner Hills, and more importantly, before we really surrendered to Jesus. Just like the people on the plains of Shinar in that ancient story, we were trying to have heaven on earth, but without God. We were also trying to "make a name for ourselves" instead of humbling ourselves and allowing God to make his name great. When we had this conversation we agreed that if we had had success in our past endeavours, we would not have come to the place of being open to Jesus.

I don't know anyone who grew up with the ambition to come to Wagner Hills as a resident someday. To come to Wagner Hills is to admit to some areas of defeat in our lives. The wonderful thing is though, all of us who heard the Lord's call to come here ended up hitting a kind of jackpot in disguise. I will finish off here (I told you this would be quick) by mentioning Psalm 73 as a comparison to the lives of the men at Wagner Hills:

In Psalm 73, Asaph, the psalmist, speaks about how he envied people who were not following God. In verse 17 though he says that he went into the sanctuary of God and had a change of heart. He basically said that his eyes were opened to how useless it is to build your own tower, and how real life is only found with the Lord.

I believe that Wagner Hills is one of those sanctuaries of the Lord where people come to have this revelation. Some of the revelation comes in quick downloads, and some of it only penetrates into the heart through testing, but one way or another God continues to teach all of us here about his true riches  - the riches of knowing Jesus. At one time none of us wanted to come here to submit to his discipleship, just as Jesus did not want to go to the cross. He asked the Father if there was any other way he could go. In the end though, our Father has known best, and many of us can testify of how our lives are blessed far beyond what we ever dreamed to be possible.
